The Vidalia Sweetie Story
The Vidalia Sweetie is everyone’s sweetheart.
Moses Coleman first met her at dusk one evening in 1930.
Ms. Vidalia smiled and introduced herself in a sugary voice.
Coleman rubbed his eyes, was this lovely onion a dream?
There was no doubt she was like no other.
She swayed and hummed to the soft breeze of the evening, leaving him entranced.
The memory of the encounter stuck with Coleman.
One year later the first Vidalia onions came to market, and the rest is history.
They say even now the Vidalia Sweetie can be spotted on April evenings in the fields of Toombs County.
A sweeter onion you will never see!
