The Penelope Story
Penelope is a special sow, admired not only for her joie de vivre,
but for that certain je ne sais quoi,
which distinguishes her from the other animaux in the barnyard.
Yes, she is quite singular, indeed Penelope is bi-lingual.
Always found in a dress and pearls some say Penelope is a bit flirty, others add “that swine is quite witty,” but all that know her agree,
this pig is very gentile et tres joli, “a sus scrofa domesticus exemplarem” to quote her vet verbatim.
Always clad in her favorite color—red,
each morn before rising from bed, she adds a satin bow her head.
She then breaks fast in her chateau, with 3 petite slices of gateau.
On Saturday’s she adds one grand glass of Pernod.
Mais oui, tis so.
Unlike her siblings, this pig is not an omnivore,
in fact toutes les viandes she does deplore.
Our cochon calls herself an herbivore,
but it’s bonbons this pig truly adores.
Foregoing greens for petit fours,
she dines on tartes and chocolats galore.
