The Mary Matinee Story
Born to a life in the theater,
Mary Matinee spends 12 hours a day minimum,
strolling the darkened passageways,
of the cinema aisles as the adoring fans gaze,
at the big silver screen, engrossed and amazed.
Fully popped and often butter topped,
Mary marvels and remarks from morn til eve,
on all she daily hears and sees.
No leading or supporting man or lady,
passes by without at least a hello or good day.
Spiffily dressed in her awning stripes,
Mary always opines on the latest release’s hype.
The only caramel coating that Mary ever needs,
is when the reel holds a candy scene.
Each of her kernels are forever perfectly popped,
one of many reasons that her appeal never wears off.
Every day from each opening scene til the last credit,
Mary is there with a snack or jumbo sized mouthful,
be it sweet or salty,
our corny leading lady is always tasteful.
