The Gertie de Gator Story
Gertie is an often misunderstood alligator,
whose gentle demeanor is genuine.
While toothy like her relatives,
Gertie is giving, caring and sensitive.
She is the ideal good gator representative.
As a lifelong herbivore and egalitarian,
she is friend to every fish, snake, turtle and pelican.
Every year during the Christmas holidays,
she travels through alleyways, bayous and highways,
making surprise deliveries along the way.
This good deed doer dresses as her idol Santa,
spreading goodwill is her mission and mantra.
As she approaches with her smiling nimble footed gait,
most are shocked and then amazed.
Gertie politely introduces herself and explains her aim,
adding that she has a gift that bears their name.
Quickly all fears and fright are appeased,
and Gertie always leaves to words of high praise,
as she bids adieu and says Happy Holidays!
