able to navigate paths that are too steep and narrow,
for reindeer hoofs this agile mellow fellow,
delivers all the holiday presents skillfully,
throughout the high hills of his native Italy.
He is a hero not just to some,
for when his work for Santa is done,
his silhouette is prominent,
at every sunrise and sunset.
Seen off on the horizon,
this diligent donkey carries on,
stopping only when each day’s delivery work is done.
“I am happy to help out.
No one should need or want”.
He is cherished and is cheered as he daily trots,
past every church, home, restaurant and store front.
