All the lithe and lovely classical ballet dancers,
hold the secrets, keys and answers,
to this artform as a top entrancer and romancer.
With it’s breathtaking skill, strength and beauty,
each gesture becomes a poignant movement.
Little ballerinas move in the glow of youth,
and with each practice grow and improve.
With dreams of being the star at the barre,
in tutus and tights they may go far,
hoping to jete and plie just right,
so one day they might take true flight,
and spend many glorious nights,
performing under a stage’s sparkling lights,
to the dance of the sugar plums,
the Black Swan’s pas de deux, or perhaps something new,
crowned or tiaraed, ready but mummed,
waiting in the wings for the cue,
and the chance to shine, now able to turn on a dime,
It is finally their time,
giving their all,
until the last curtain call.
