The Huey Story

Once there was a fluffy little lamb named Huey.
Every day he would rise early,
walking the fields while they were still dewy,
returning with a rosy glow to his soft cheeks,
he would not speak,
until after his breakfast at the foot of the pasture’s creek.
Then the pink nosed sheep would baa softly,
as the rest of the flock stayed nestled together closely.
Near him always was his friend Mary,
who had known him since he was a baby.
Sometimes he would whisper sweet lullabies,
cradling and lulling the youngest lambs to sleep.
Other times he would tell stories,
moving dear Mary to sometimes weep,
at the mention of  her beloved Bo Peep.
But mostly his thoughts were bold and lofty.
He spoke of his wish for peace everlasting,
shared his dreams and pondered life’s meaning,
sitting side by side with his flock and the wolf.
As much as Huey was a storyteller and leader,
he was also a humble and obedient young student,
following his shepherd’s every word and turn,
spreading the word to all he knew and to his herd,
over time he grew into the finest and gentlest ram,
that was ever known to man.
