Googlie Goes Maui's Story
One year when Santa and the Mrs. were packing for their annual get away to parts warm and sandy Googlie decided to tag along. With the help of Nick, Googlie was safely packed with a 7 day supply of candy canes into a steamer trunk with the rest of the Claus’ luggage. Upon seeing the steamer trunk both Claus and the Mrs. suspected the other had over packed for the swimsuit and shorts only destination of Maui but each decided to not say a word and they jumped onto the JingleNog jet and headed out into the friendly skies, ready for a long needed and much deserved rest. Googlie arrived in Maui well rested and hungry. He decided to see the sights and donning his new Hawaiian shirt and shorts headed out through the sandy beaches in search of a good luau, Don Ho, a lei and ukulele lessons. He never did find Don Ho but he found his lei, caught a few hula and surfing tips, and learned a great poi recipe as well. The biggest surprise of this trip was Googlie’s ability to play the ukulele. Googlie took to the ukulele like a fish does to water. He love it and was a natural. Soon he was crooning “I Love Christmas” and “ I Found My Favorite Coconut” with a full 10 finger, toe or combo strum. Still in hiding from Claus and the Mrs., Googlie would lie in the hammocks of all the neighbors, strumming and singing from dawn ‘til dusk, and later continued by teakie torch, with a small, and then ever growing crowd around him. One day Claus heard the crowd calling out for another round of “Hula Surf Paradise” and thought he heard a familiar voice. Looking out his balcony who did he see but our Googlie friend in among the coconuts in full hula swing. The island was rocking to our friend’s newly found talents, his ukulele beat. Claus, after listening to a few songs decided to forgive him. He grabbed the Mrs. and they headed down to the beach to dance! They hulaed and sang until dawn and from that night on Googlie and his ukulele became a part of every Claus gathering and sing-a-long.
